Many impressive varieties adorn the family of the so-called heliconia. It is also known as the lobster claw or false bird of paradise flower, the latter of course being related to its distinctive blooms and exotic appearance.
Look
What's special about this variety is that each heliconia has its unique flower, which acts like a botanical fingerprint. The more you get involved with it, the more the name of the heliconia seems appropriate. This is derived from Helikon, the name of a mountain in ancient Greece that also happened to be the seat of the goddesses of the arts. Another fascinating thing about this cut flower is its upright, boat-like bracts, which normally collect rainwater. The most characteristic of this heliconia, however, is its orange-red color, the green marginal stripes and, above all, its size. It is thoroughly enchanting, decorative, easy to care for and long-lasting.
